PTEN and TIMP3 are downregulated in GC tumor tissues, which negatively correlates with miR-21-5p levels. (A and B) A reverse transcription quantitative-polymerase chain reaction assay was used to measure the expression levels of PTEN and TIMP3 in GC samples and matched adjacent normal tissues. (C) A statistically significant negative correlation between the expression levels of miR-21-5p and PTEN was observed in GC samples (r=−0.4175, P=0.0039). (D) A statistically significant negative correlation between the expression levels of miR-21-5p and TIMP3 was observed in GC samples (r=−0.3263, P=0.004).
