Figure 4

Effect of MTD chemotherapy dosing on footpad intra-epidermal nerve fiber density (IENDF) in mice. A: PACLI induced a significant and sustained reduction in intra-epidermal nerve fiber density (PGP positive fibers) from 24 hours to 3 months after dosing. VINO and ERIB also produced deficits from 24h, but these recovered by 4 weeks and IXA treated mice showed a significant deficit in fiber density at 2 weeks and recovered thereafter. (Student’s t test: ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001, versus vehicle-treated mice). B: Representative photomicrographs of PGP positive fibers indicating loss of intra-epidermal nerve fiber density in PACLI-treated mice 1 week after cessation of treatment versus vehicle. N=3 mice/timepoint/treatment.
