(A) Schematic diagrams of fabrication, and (B) usage of the device. Channels are fabricated by depositing a base PDMS layer (A1). After solidification, a capillary tube is placed on top of the base layer (A2). A second PDMS layer is then deposited (A3). The capillary tube is removed (A4), leaving an open channel. The device is operated by introducing a liquid solution to fill one half of the channel (B1). A second solution is introduced from the opposite end (B2). Upon coalescence of the two menisci, the solutions react at the liquid interface, forming a membrane via self-assembly of the suspended molecules (B3).
