a

Three-way analysis of variance was performed by sex, age, and body weight (or travel mode). The main effects of sex and age were similar to the results from Student t tests. No two-way and three-way interactions were significant, and therefore not included in the final models.

b

Active travel mode included travel on foot (none of our participants traveled by bike). Passive travel mode included travel by public transport and by private car.
