A, in situ hybridization of A1 receptor mRNA in mouse brain. Strong signals were detected in the olfactory bulb (OB), the hippocampus (Hip) and the cerebellum (Cb). B and C, the strongest A1 receptor expression signal in the OB was located in large cells of the mitral cell layer (ML). DG, no expression signal could be detected in wild‐type mice using sense probes as a control (D and E), and in A1 receptor knockout mice using the antisense probe (F and G). H, in situ hybridization of A2A receptor mRNA. A2A signals were detected in the olfactory bulb, the cerebellum and the caudate putamen (CP).
