Non-covalently cell wall-bound proteins were expressed in L. lactis and their binding to whole cells of S. aureus was assessed upon incubation at pH 7, or pH 5 in the case of Efb as indicated. Please note that the different groupings of blots (marked by boxes) were cropped per investigated protein from different parts of the same Western blot, or from different Western blots that were similarly processed and scanned.
