Contributions to wall-clock time for a network simulation on different numbers of MPI processes. Total wall-clock time required for propagation of network dynamics (black), time spent on update of neurons and population of spike register from target lists (red), collocation of MPI send buffer (blue), MPI_Alltoall communication (green), reading of MPI buffers and distribution of spikes via synapses to targets (purple) on the JUQUEEN supercomputer.
