Mean concentrations of IL-1β levels in GCF in the shallow pockets (PD = 4-5 mm), deep pockets (PD ≥ 6 mm) and healthy controls pockets. In shallow sites IL-1β concentration reached 92.9 pg/μl (SD = 74.6), in deep sites 64.1 pg/μl (SD = 41.5), and in both cases was significantly higher than in controls (23.0 pg/μl, SD = 13.5, p < 0.001). Statistical comparison of IL-1β levels in shallow and deep pockets revealed a significant difference (p = 0.002)
