Inhibitory effects of tanshinones on osteoclastogenesis. (A) Effect of tanshinone inhibitors on osteoclastogenesis compared with the DMSO‐treated control group. Tanshinone inhibitors showed no effect on osteoclastogenesis up to 5 μM concentration. Mononuclear cells were seeded on bone slices in the presence of RANKL and M‐CSF and treated with individual tanshinones for 10 days and analysed by TRAcP staining. (B) TRAcP‐stained osteoclasts were counted by measuring the number of cells containing two or more nuclei in a single cell.
