aDefined as participants who engaged in exercise of ≥30 minutes for ≥2 days a week for more than one year.

bDefined as participants who meet one of the following criteria:
(i) Systolic blood pressure/diastolic blood pressure of ≥140 mm Hg/≥90 mm Hg;
(ii) Antihypertensive medication.

cDefined as participants who meet one of the following criteria:
(i) Fasting plasma glucose level of ≥126 mg/dL;
(ii) Non-fasting plasma glucose level of ≥200 mg/dL;
(iii) Hemoglobin A1c ≥6.5%;
(iv) Antidiabetic medication.

dDefined as participants who meet one of the following criteria:
(i) Total cholesterol ≥220 mg/dL;
(ii) Lipid-lowering medication.

eDefined as participants who meet the following criterion:
(i) High-density lipoprotein cholesterol <40 mg/dL.
