Uninfected and L. major-infected BALB/c mice received one intravenous dose (1 mg/kg of body weight) of a formulation, after which amphotericin B (AmB) levels in plasma (a and b) and skin at multiple time points were determined. Two skin sites per animal were included: the rump (parasite inoculation site where the localized CL lesion is present in infected [d] but not in uninfected [c] mice) and the back (lesion-free control site in both infected [f] and uninfected [e] animals).
