After exposing both LN-229 and HK-2 cells, the ability of these cells to metabolize resazurin to resofurin was tested as a measure of cell viability. Results are means ± SD of at least three independent experiments. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001 and ****p < 0.0001 for statistical significance of differences between the same concentration of citric acid-derived and each of the food-derived C-dots.
