Photographs of the silicon wafers with highly oriented membranes. Wafers were mounted in the sample holder, custom manufactured for the IN12 cryostat. The water reservoir in the bottom of the can was filled with D2O to ensure hydration of the membranes during the elastic and inelastic scans. Sample can was sealed and mounted in an orange cryostat for temperature control (±0.01°C).
