Secondary structure of pre-miRNAs. The selected pre-miRNAs were mapped to the rRNAs, tRNAs, sn and snoRNAs to ensure that they did not align with them. The pre-miRNAs’ MFE and MFEI were calculated and subjected to secondary fold formation for the known (Ai–iii) and novel (Bi–iii) miRNAs by using RNAFold [20]. In addition, pre-miRNA candidates were studied based on their length (C) and the presence of U terminal nuleotide (D).
