Innate signaling of free or encapsulated murabutide (MB) at different concentrations. (A) Cellular metabolic activity of and (B) interleukin (IL)-6 and (C) tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α production by JAWSII dendritic cells after 24 hour incubation with soluble MB (solMB) or MB encapsulated within acetalated dextran (Ace-DEX) microparticles (MPs) of varying relative cyclic acetal coverage (20%, 40%, or 60 %). Empty Ace-DEX (40%) MPs (EMPs) were administered at the same concentration as that of MPs required to achieve the highest MB dose. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 100 ng/mL) was used as the positive control. Statistical significance with respect to solMB is presented as *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, and ***p < 0.001. Data are presented as mean ± standard deviation (n = 3).
