In his presentation at the colloquium, Niemeyer described the convincing evidence from experimental research and clinical experience that the mesial temporal structures have a critical role in epileptogeneis of TLE. Niemeyer described a surgical technique he developed to selectively remove the mesial temporal structures via a trans-T2 trans-ventricular approach.
