(A) Supervised STDP rule (defined by Equation 3) using pre-synaptic trace to perform potentiation/depression of weights. t1, t2t7 are the time instants at which target/actual spiking activity occurs resulting in a weight change. The extent of potentiation or depression of weights Δw is proportional to the value of the pre-synaptic trace x1, x2x7 at a given time instant. (B) One-hot spike encoding activity for a 3-class problem: Based on the class of the training input, the corresponding output neuron is trained to produce high activity while remaining neurons yield near-zero activity.
