PTGER induced following short-term hypoxia. Following hypoxia pre-treatment, neonatal (A) and adult (B) CPCs were assessed for changes in PTGER1-4 gene expression. Significant changes were observed in neonatal, but not adult, PTGER1 and PTGER4 expression, which was confirmed using gel electrophoresis (C). This is supported by previous reports and IPA modeling, wherein AKT induces PTGER4 expression, which subsequently induces HIF-1α expression (D). This prostaglandin-mediated induction of HIF-1α can then promote subsequent hypoxia-like cell responses.
