Mice were subjected to dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan before surgery and injected with NELL-PEG or phosphate-buffered saline after surgery until week (Wk) 3 with an interval of every 7 days. Bone labels of Calcein and Alizarin Red were injected at weeks 1 and 3, respectively.
