Fig 9 — Once pathogen signals are perceived by plant cells, FAMA will recruit MED8 to the G-box region in the promoter of FAMA targets. MED8 then recruits pol II to the promoter of FAMA target and activates downstream defensin genes. This signaling pathway is independent of the MYC2-MED25 signaling pathway in pathogen resistance.
