Phantom experiment. Three different slab sizes were tested (S1=460mm, S2=346mm, S3=269mm) as in (a), where the smallest slab size (S3) showed the best image quality with minimal aliasing/streaking artifact in the S-I direction as shown in (b). (c) shows efficacy of SPI in reducing ringing artifacts in the out-of-phase echo image as shown in 1D profiles.
