Licochalcone A (LicA) induces autophagy in hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HCCs). (A) HCCs were treated with different doses of LicA for 24 h. (B) HCCs were treated with 50 µM LicA for different times. (C) HCCs were treated with 50 µM LicA, 50 µM LicA combined with 40 µM chloroquine (CQ) or 50 µM rapamycin for 24 h. (D) HCCs were treated with 50 µM LicA for 24 h and processed acridine orange (AO) staining (E) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) (arrows) were examined to evaluate the level of LicA-induced-autophagy.
