Image quantification was performed as described in materials and methods section. For statistical analysis between groups a 1-way ANOVA was used as previously described. Group median values and P-values are shown when p < .05. For MUC2 and PAS staining 4 sentinels instead of 5 were used because one paraffin-block was missing at the time of the staining. Missing pig section was not assessed because of the relatively small spread between data. Y-axis represents fluorescence signal intensity of the marker staining per section.
