Experimental setup. (A) Virtual apartment. Top: bird’s eye view of the environment. On each trial, the target was shown on the TV at the end of the hallway when subjects approached it. Subjects then searched for the target in the two rooms. Bottom: views of the living room (left) and bedroom (right). (B) A subject wearing the head-mounted display (HMD), which was equipped with an Arrington eye tracker and a HiBall head position tracker. (C) Top: target objects.
