At 20 minutes after the VCP-Elvax was delivered to the eye, there was significantly less fluorescein-VCP in the retina than after the intravitreal injection (P<0.05). At 6 hours, 24 hours and 7 days, only background levels of fluorescence were evident in both the injected and implanted eyes (dashed black line represents average background in non-injected control sections). Statistical analysis was performed using a 1-way ANOVA with Tukey’s multiple comparisons post-hoc test. * indicates a statistical significance of P<0.05. d, days; h, hours; m, minutes.
