Neutrophil recruitment by chemokines and leukotriene B4. Neutrophils are recruited to the tissue through chemoattractants such as chemokines and LTB4. Chemokines bind to GAGs, which are expressed on endothelial cells and tissue. The retention of chemokines on GAGs generates a chemokine gradient that favors the binding of chemokines to their GPCR. LTB4 binds to specific GPCRs on the neutrophil to induce firm adhesion of the cell to the endothelium. GAGs: glycosaminoglycans, LTB4: leukotriene B4, GPCR: G protein-coupled receptor.
