Correction for Haines et al., New twist on artificial muscles

PERSPECTIVE Correction for “New twist on artificial muscles,” by Carter S. Haines, Na Li, Geoffrey M. Spinks, Ali E. Aliev, Jiangtao Di, and Ray H. Baughman, which was first published September 26, 2016; 10.1073/pnas.1605273113 (Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 113:11709–11716).

The authors note that on page 11714, left column, first full paragraph, line 7, “πD⁴/16” should instead appear as “πD⁴/64”; and, within the same paragraph, line 9, “F = σA = 4πσD²” should instead appear as “F = σA = 4πσD²/4.”

The authors also note the Eq. 5 appeared incorrectly. It should have appeared as $T_{\text{c}}=\frac{\sqrt{2\sigma E}}{\pi DG}$.
