Summary of the surgical hearing and tinnitus outcome. Patients were classified according to the change of their pre- and postoperative tinnitus (postTN) in four groups: (A) preTN− → postTN−, (B) preTN+ → postTN−, (C) preTN+ → postTN+, and (D) preTN− → postTN+. The x-axis shows the distribution of the preoperative hearing (preGR_m1: functional hearing; preGR_m2: non-functional hearing; preGR_m3: ipsilateral hearing loss) within group. Color coding represents the hearing outcome (black: postGR_m1; dark gray: postGR_m2; light gray: postGR_m3).
