Dynamic modulation of intercellular tether formation and their cytoskeletal organization. (A) 4T1 cells were cultured for 24 hrs on tissue culture dishes coated with 10 µg/ml fibronectin (FN). Cell movement was then monitored by live-cell phase contrast microscopy. Using these movies, we measured the formation, elongation, and shortening of individual tethers, over time. Each curve represents changes displayed by a single tether. The blue curve, and the associated numbers, correspond to the temporal snapshots shown in (A’).
