Monocyte-derived cytokine production induced by members of the C. gattii species complex. Human PBMCs (n = 6) from healthy volunteers (5 × 105 cells/ml) were stimulated with LPS (10 ng/ml) or live yeast forms of Cryptococcus species (2.5 × 106 cells/ml). After 24 h of incubation, TNF-α, IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-10 production in supernatants was determined by ELISA.
