ROS production induced by cryptococcal species. Human PBMCs (1 × 10⁶ cells/ml) from healthy volunteers were stimulated with zymosan (positive control; 1 mg/ml), live yeast forms of Cryptococcus species (5 × 10⁶ cells/ml), or heat-killed Candida albicans (as a control; 1 × 10⁷ cells/ml), and ROS production was measured by chemiluminescence assay.
