A. Colony size in soft agar plates was measured in the wild type, ΔLBBD, and LBBDcomp strains following a 7-day incubation period. Each point represents a biological replicate and mean and standard deviation bars are shown. Statistical significance was determined using Repeated Measurements one-way ANOVA. B. Velocity of spirochete strains in 0.5% methyl cellulose. Maximum speeds of individual cells were measured in three independent experiments and statistical significance was calculated using an unpaired t test with Welch’s correction (P < 0.0001). Mean and standard error of the mean are shown.
