Acetylcholinesterase inhibition reduces bacterial load and prevents splenomegaly in orally infected mice without altering intestinal IgA production. Following pretreatment with saline or paraoxon, mice were infected orally with SL1344, as in Figure 1. (A). Bacterial colony-forming units (CFUs) were determined in spleen, liver, mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs), and feces at the indicated time points postinfection and expressed as CFUs/mg.
