PMCA conversion coefficient of dehydrated hamster PrPSc remains unchanged after repeated cycles of freezing and thawing. After one round of drying, dehydrated samples, untreated control (D.F.T. 0), or samples treated with 500 repeated cycles of freezing and thawing (D.F.T. 500) were subjected to 10-fold serial dilutions followed by one round of PMCA (two rounds for SCL-adsorbed DY). The conversion coefficient of samples treated with 500 cycles of freezing and thawing was compared to that of untreated controls.
