Infection with germlings compromises PICLC protection. (A) A. nidulans germlings were generated by incubating fresh conidia for 5 h in RPMI medium at 37°C. Germination was monitored by estimation of germ tube length by light microscopy. Bars, 10 µm. (B) CGD mice were left untreated or PICLC dosed as described above and then infected with resting conidia or pregerminated cells. Survival of infected mice was monitored for 28 days.
