Table 4.

Criteria for Diastolic Dysfunction for HIV-Infected Participants

  1. Left ventricular ejection fraction > 50%

  2. Evidence of impaired left ventricular relaxation: septal e' < 7 cm/s or lateral e' < 10 cm/s

  3. Evidence of chronically elevated left ventricular filling pressure or left ventricular hypertrophy (or concentric remodeling):

    1. left atrial volume index > 28 ml/m2 or

    2. left ventricular hypertrophy (left ventricular mass index > 95/m2 in women, > 115 g/m2 in men) or

    3. concentric left ventricular remodeling (relative wall thickness > 0.42)
