Confocal micrographs of E. variegatus-infected leafhoppers' salivary glands immunolabeled with anti-VmpA PAbs. The salivary gland cells of leafhoppers fed healthy broad beans or FD-P-infected broad beans were observed with fluorescent and differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy. Actin was labeled with Alexa 568-phalloidin (red), nuclei were stained with DAPI (blue), and FD-P was labeled with anti-His6-VmpA PAbs and secondary Alexa 488 antibodies (green).
