Receiver-operator characteristic (ROC) and precision-recall (PR) curves for our classifier using the 150 hours of “ground-truth” data. The grey line shows ROC & PR using manually assessed presence as the ground-truth (43/150 hours with whales present). The black line shows the ROC using only ground truth recordings containing ‘usual clicks’ from ‘nearby’ whales (26/150 hours with these conditions). Numbers indicate the threshold at each point with S > 300 ICIs per hour for all thresholds (see Methods for detailed description).
