MCF-7 cells reversed from apoptosis showed increased tumorigenicity in vivo as determined using a xenograft model in nude mice. The tumors harvested from the mammary fat pads of nude mice in the reversed group were generally larger than those in the solvent control and the untreated groups, regardless of the number of MCF-7 cells used in the injection. The tumors formed in the 50,000-reversed cells group were also larger than those in the 10,000-reversed cells group. No visible tumor was formed in the groups injected with 10,000 solvent-treated cells or 10,000 untreated cells.
