Numerical simulations reproduce the formation of layers in the wake of an immiscibility front. As the front (red line) moves inside the droplet and the ethanol concentration drops below c, the potential switches to a double well, causing the volume fraction ϕ (blue line) to alternate between oil and water-rich regions along the radial distance.
