Replication of HSV-1(F) in HEp-2 and knockout cell lines. Replicate cultures of HEp-2 or indicated knockout cells were exposed to 0.01 PFU of virus per cell for 2 h. The inoculum was then replaced with fresh medium. Virus progeny were harvested at 48 h after infection and titered on Vero cells. The numbers above the bars show the ratios of virus yield obtained in the knocked-out cell lines relative to those obtained in HEp-2 cells.
