The microscopic images in b’ show the mucosal surface with false colour coding of CBF of single ciliated cells; brighter colours represent higher CBF. Decrease in CBF with increasing B. pseudohinzii numbers is a general feature of the majority of ciliated cells and is not restricted to single ciliated cells.
