The effects of TBT on insulin secretion in β-cells and islets. Both RIN-m5F cells (A) and mouse islets (B) were treated with TBT (0.5 and 1 μM) for 4 h (a) or 24 h (b). The glucose (20 mM)-stimulated insulin secretion was detected. The levels of insulin in the solution were determined by ELISA. The secreted insulin was normalized to 2 × 105 cells for RIN-m5F cells or islet equivalent of quality (IEQ) for mouse islets. TBT did not affect the basal insulin secretion at 4 h exposure. Data are presented as mean ± SEM of three independent experiments with triplicate determinations in each experiment. *P < 0.05 as compared to vehicle control.
