Positive mean diffusivity correlates of the sleep duration (hours). (a) The results shown were obtained using a threshold of threshold-free cluster enhancement (TFCE) of P < 0.05, based on 5000 permutations. The results were corrected at the whole brain level. Regions with significant correlations are overlaid on a “single subject” T1 image of SPM8. The color represents the strength of the TFCE value. Significant positive correlations with MD were observed in extensive gray and white matter regions that were mainly focused in the PFC, basal ganglia architecture, and anterior part of the corpus callosum. (b) A scatter plot with a trend line depicting correlations between mean MD in the largest significant cluster and hours of sleep duration. 95% confidence intervals for the trend lines are also shown.
