Effects of aqueous extract of black maca (AEM) on the serum lipid, glucose, and insulin profiles in golden hamsters. Over 20 weeks, (A) serum cholesterol (CHO), (B) serum triglyceride (TG), (C) serum low-density lipoprotein CHO (LDL-C), and (D) high-density lipoprotein CHO (HDL-C) levels were tested. At the end of 20 weeks, (E) serum CHO, (F) serum TG, (G) serum LDL-C, (H) serum HDL-C, (I) serum glucose, and (J) serum insulin were measured. The calculated insulin sensitivity index (K) and HOMA-IR index (L) are displayed.
