Since the β2-G170A-Pro-H₇ mutant accumulates half CPs (Fig. 6c), the β2-G170W-Pro-H₇ mutant is likely to suffer from a defect concerning half CP dimerisation. Similarly, the TUB6 mutation G170W in the proteasome subunit β2i leads to a major arrest in precursor complex processing and an inefficient, minor progression to mature iCP/tCP (lower panel).
