IFN-α blockade study design. Three groups of six animals were given either a high dose (group A; 100 mg/kg), low dose (group B; 10 mg/kg), or mock infusion (group C) of AGS-009 1 day prior to SIVmac239 i.v. infection. The animals were monitored for approximately 1 year. Peripheral blood, lymph nodes, and rectal biopsy specimens were collected for virological and immunological analyses.
