Effect of IFN-β on early, intermediate, and late mRNA synthesis. A549 cells were untreated or treated with 2,000 IU/ml of IFN-β for 24 h and infected with 3 PFU/cell of purified WR or vΔC9. At 0, 2, or 6 h after infection, the RNA was extracted and reverse transcribed. Primers specific for E3 mRNA (A), D13 mRNA (B), and A3 mRNA (C) were used for quantification by ddPCR. The experiments were repeated three times, and the data were combined to make the figure. The error bars represent SEMs.
