Micropatterned surfaces restricted bacterial colonization on devices and lowered bacterial burdens in the tissues of animals treated with cyclophosphamide. Devices were explanted and cut into external and internal segments, which were then processed in Dey–Engley broth and plated onto TSA. Tissue samples were homogenized in PBS and plated onto TSA. The plates were incubated overnight and then the colonies were counted.
