CO release from CORM-401 in bacterial growth medium. Assays were performed in Evans minimal medium (with glucose as sole carbon source) in the presence of excess dithionite at 37°C. (A) CO difference spectra showing the conversion of myoglobin (15 μM) to the carbonmonoxy-ferrous species in the presence of 3 μM CORM-401. (B) Time course of CO release from CORM-401 in medium at 37°C. Under these conditions, CORM-401 releases 2.5 mole equivalent of CO with a t1/2 of 4.5 min.
